The Susquehanna Chorale’s beloved Youth Choral Festival reflects the joy of lifelong singing. Come hear the exuberance of young voices coupled with the rich and nuanced sound of the Susquehanna Chorale in a concert filled with messages of hope and inspiration. Our Children’s Chorale, Susquehanna Alta Voce Chorale, (formerly Young Women’s Chorale), and Youth Chorale showcase amazing talent and gorgeous repertoire that not only educates but invites understanding and appreciation for all the colors

in the world around us.

Culminating in a glorious grand finale with the adult Chorale, this is a not-to-be-missed performance where voices of all ages come together to create a vocal kaleidoscope that’s unique, beautiful, and ever-changing.

The glow of candlelight, the shimmer of brass instruments, the familiarity of cherished carols —all form the beautiful kaleidoscope that is the Susquehanna Chorale’s Candlelight Christmas.

โ€‹

From the mystery and quiet anticipation of O Come, O Come Emmanuel by the late Alice Parker to stirring pieces with brass accompaniment (Gloria Fanfare, The Dream Isaiah Saw, Welcome All Wonders, and Dan Forrest’s sing- along favorite, Festival First Noel), to Elaine Hagenberg’s stunning Love’s Pure Light, this concert captures both the joy and reverence of the season.

โ€‹

We invite you to share in the many facets of Christmas with songs of peace and reflection as well as those you’ll want to stand up and sing right along with us. (And you can do that!) Join us for music that brings the “merry,” the memories, and the true meaning of this special season.

A kaleidoscope contains mirrors and pieces of colored glass that
blend into intricate and beautiful patterns, changing constantly as the tube is rotated. That’s what you’ll find with the Susquehanna Chorale’s spring concert, My Spirit Sang All Day — a varied and wonderful collection of pieces that sparkle on their own but transform into extraordinary art when individual voices

come together to sing them.

These are songs of the heart and soul—expressing faith, love, and exultation. Sacred selections include Hubert Parry’s triumphant I Was Glad and Psalm 90 by Charles Ives, John Rutter’s God Be In My Head, and Shawn Kirchner’s energetic and uplifting Cornerstone.

Our second half ranges from the sublime to just plain rollicking fun. You’ll hear Elaine Hagenberg’s The Music of Stillness, Eric Whitacre’s Sing Gently written during Covid isolation, and Randall Stroope’s tender Omnia Sol followed by delightful songs including Short People, What Shall We Do With The Drunken Sailor,

and Buffalo Gals.

Let your spirit sing with us in a concert that reflects all the colors found in the kaleidoscope of our lives.
